Music & Rhythms
Music & Rhythms is not the typical musical festival. Under the themes of "Nature" "Music" "Community" and "Earth", Music & Rhythms is a celebration of World music that features Ondekoza, along with a variety of internationally acclaimed musicians.
Yet it is children, not the musicians, who are at the central focus of Music & Rhythms. Along with members of the community, children participate in workshops where they are encouraged to express their create imagination using bamboo instruments of their own making. Using their expressive tools, the children themselves become the performers in a collaborative concert with various professional musicians.
First launched in Korea on Jeju Island in 2005, Music & Rhythms has expanded to various locations around the globe- including Japan, South Africa, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Saudi Arabia and more- involving local communities and children in each of its travels.
